Hi and welcome to the Cautious Vegetarian food blog!
The first question I usually get asked is “What do you mean by cautious?” Well, after several blueberry martinis with friends I came up with the name…we all laughed and it kinda stuck…okay, that’s only partially true. When I started thinking about this blog my intent was to encourage non-vegetarians to try vegetarian food. To be honest, when I first became interested in vegetarian cooking (which was decades ago) many of the recipes I came across were really unappealing and sometimes a little strange. My family, who are not vegetarians, had absolutely no interest in trying most of them. So I started to create recipes that they could relate to and would want to try. This blog is my way of sharing those recipes with all of you.
The next question I often get asked is “Where do you get your recipes from?” Most of them I make up; I’m inspired by recipes from my childhood, ideas I hear from family and friends, dishes I enjoy at local eateries and by the products and other goodies I find at my local shops. I also get inspired by other food bloggers. All of the recipes you will find here are tested by me, my family and/or friends. I invite you to try them and if you feel you want to, leave me feedback in the comment section.
A little about me: My name is Marie and I live in the beautiful city of Vancouver. I love to cook – well, I guess that goes without saying – and am into long distance walking, travelling and drinking good wine. I have worked for many years in the health care sector and have just completed a Master’s degree in community development.
Thanks so much for visiting the Cautious Vegetarian!
