Tahini sauce, also known as taratur sauce, is similar to hummus but made with…you guessed it, tahini. It’s flavoured with garlic, lemon and parsley. This is one versatile sauce, it all depends on how thick you make it. It can be thin enough to drizzle over roasted vegetables or thick enough to use as a dip for pita bread or raw vegetables. It’s also great in veggie sandwiches, wraps and falafels.
I find that tahini has a bitter edge to it so I add a big pinch of sugar to this recipe, it doesn’t make the sauce taste sweet but does mellow it out a bit; the sugar is optional.
