When I was a kid my mother would make split pea soup with a big chunk of ham in it. It was my favourite soup. My love for pea soup has endured and I make several different versions, using both dried peas and fresh ones.
Of course, now they’re all vegetarian but I find them just as satisfying. In this version I add a bit of spice, just to shake things up a bit. Serve this hearty vegan soup with warmed naan bread.
